Position Summary

Blue Care Stagpole Street Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit, based in Townsville, is currently looking for a full time Case Worker to join the team. 

 

  • $22.82-$24.43 per hour + 9.5% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances

The purpose of your role is to participate in the delivery and planning of a high standard of care and support to residents that is consistent with the mission of the CCDEU Ltd and contemporary best practice. You will utilise a team-based approach to care and require an understanding of the scope of practice and legislative limitations of the position.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Conducting comprehensive initial drug and alcohol assessments; 
  • Developing comprehensive and holistic treatment plans;
  • Providing advocacy and support for clients.
  • Providing counselling by utilising a range of evidence based theories and approaches, with a focus on drug and alcohol therapies;
  • Participating in the organisation of culturally appropriate, therapeutic and recreational activities and group sessions to encourage positive attitude and behavioural changes in clients;  

To be fabulous in this role you will need

  • Minimum Cert IV level qualifications in community services/social emotional wellbeing;
  • Current Queensland manual drivers licence;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate;
  • Demonstrated computer skills utilising a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Office suite;
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct drug and alcohol assessments and/or assessments in a related field with knowledge of patterns of addictive behaviour and their implications for intervention;
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in therapeutic environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and facilitate a variety of culturally appropriate and diverse group sessions with predominantly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social, health and cultural issues of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Crisis Management within the Drug and Alcohol or similar setting.
